"Dr. Misty Getrich is passionate about inspiring others to explore and discover
their own greatest potential while restoring balance in their lives."
My Story
My passion for helping others began at a young age. I started my journey as a certified nursing assistant while I was still in high school. I progressed to working at Memorial Medical Center where I expanded my skills to work in the Intensive Care Unit and then the Emergency Department (ED), while continuing my education to earn my bachelor’s degree at CSU Stanislaus.
While working in the ED, I began working as an Emergency Medical Technician for American Medical Response (AMR) based in Modesto, running 911 calls. During the time I worked at AMR, I also became employed as a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Coroner doing death investigations, death notifications, and postmortem examinations.
My experiences have allowed me to work closely and connect with many people in my community. I earned my Doctor’s degree in Psychology with my dissertation research based upon stress in the fields of Fire, EMS and Law Enforcement. I conducted hundreds of interviews with local personnel from AMR, Modesto Police Department and Modesto Fire Department in order to complete that dissertation.
I have obtained various therapeutic experiences over the last ten years amongst them providing psychotherapy with adults, children/adolescents, couples, and families as well as treatment services for veteran and first responder agencies.
I have learned my purpose is to use my skill set to continue helping people through resilience coaching and wellness services. I am thrilled to add more emphasis to the first responder community as I am one of the only professionals with a background in EMS and law enforcement providing services to these unsung heroes. First responders of all stripes have a special place in my heart and have continued to play a focal point in my career after EMS and law enforcement.
I am excited for this soulful, heart forward adventure and I look forward to meeting you along this journey.
